Oriental Chicken Wings

Ros: This recipe was given to me in my kitchen tea book, and it has always been very popular with the family! I have many a memory of small sticky fingers when these were being eaten.


Serves 6.


Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 4 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp grated ginger (or use ground ginger)
  • 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 1 med onion (chopped)
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • salt & pepper
  • 4 Tbsp sherry (optional)
  • 1.5 kg (3lb) chicken wings
Method

1. Combine all ingredients except chicken, and mix well.

2. Prepare chicken and add to marinade. Refrigerate for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

3. Place chicken in a baking dish. Strain marinade and pour liquid over chicken.

4. Bake chicken at 180°C (350°F) for 30 minutes, or until tender, basting occasionally with marinade.
