The Kids' Favourite Chocolate Self-Saucing Pudding

Ros: This reminds me of Ponui family camps with Don cooking mountainous quantities of a self-saucing pudding very similar to this one. Make sure you make this in a deep dish, in order to avoid overflowing dishes and blackened "turds" on the bottom of your oven...
 



Ingredients
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 Tbsp cocoa
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • chopped walnuts (enough to scatter over the top)
  • 1 3/4 cups hot water
 Method

In the first bowl, mix:
          1 cup flour
          1 Tbsp cocoa
          3/4 cup sugar
          1/4 tsp salt
          2 tsp baking powder

In the second bowl, mix:
          1/2 cup milk
          2 Tbsp melted butter
          1 tsp vanilla

Combine the two bowls.

Pour into a buttered dish and cover with chopped walnuts.

Mix 3/4 cup brown sugar and 2Tbsp cocoa. Scatter over batter in dish.

Pour 1 3/4 cups hot water over all.

Bake in a medium oven (approx 170°C) for 40 mins.
