Tuna Penne Pasta Bake

Nathanael: This basically boils down to: make a white sauce, add a tin of tuna, a little lemon and cover with cheese and bake. Super easy.

Ingredients


  • 75g butter 
  • 3 tablespoons flour 
  • 1 ½ teaspoons dried mustard powder 
  • 2 cups milk 
  • 3 teaspoons lemon juice 
  • 185g can tuna, drained and flaked 
  • 3 cups penne pasta (or macaroni), cooked and drained 
  • 2 cups cheese, grated 
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper 

Method

In a saucepan melt butter, stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Add mustard powder, milk and lemon juice and stir for 5 minutes until sauce begins to boil and thicken. Stir in tuna, penne pasta, half the cheese and salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Transfer to small lasagne or pie dish. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake at 180C for 20 minutes until cheese melts and the top is all golden brown.
